What is dev.Objective()?

dev.Objective() is an annual programming conference in Minneapolis, MN, with content geared toward mid-to-advanced-level developers. The conference initially focused solely on ColdFusion/CFML, but has grown with its audience over the years and now features talks on JavaScript - with a dedicated conference track affectionately known as js.Objective(), Java, Git, Groovy, the JVM, SQL, NoSQL and other related technologies as well. The conference session list typically includes topics by speakers from companies such as Google, Adobe, Mozilla, Netflix, and IBM.

dev.Objective() strives to maintain a 6-to-1 attendee-to-speaker ratio and strongly encourages attendee-speaker interaction, enriching the conference experience and educational value for all. Many speakers are dev.Objective() alumni who advanced their careers as a direct result of attending dev.Objective(). If you are looking to take your programming skills to the next level, join us and make the next step of your journey dev.Objective().

The idea for dev.Objective() was conceived in late 2005 by Chief Instigator, Jared Rypka-Hauer, with the Inaugural dev.Objective() - then known as cf.Objective() - conference taking place in March 2006. One day, while searching for answers to advanced-level ColdFusion questions and not finding any, Jared publicly lamented about the dearth of quality content available for intermediate-to-advanced ColdFusion developers. Sure, there was plenty of content available for those dipping their toe into the water, or those early on in their career, but it was nigh on impossible to find the content that he hungered for. Then he uttered the words that would forever change the landscape of the CFML Community.

We really need a conference that focuses on advanced-level ColdFusion content!

Several of those who were there that day responded in the only productive way possible.

So why don't you start one, Jared?

Not one to be bashful, Jared accepted the challenge and dev.Objective() was born. Now in its tenth consecutive year, dev.Objective() 2015 looks to continue its tradition of building on the previous year's conference, pushing the proverbial envelope and making the next dev.Objective() the best ever.
